Hair Truth Series by KUBO

Hair loss causes concern because hair is part of our identity and self-esteem. Although it is common, not all hair loss is the same or requires the same approach. Understanding its origin is key to treating it correctly.

In this first edition of Hair Truth Series by KUBO, we spoke with Dr. Bárbara Altisench to analyze hair loss from a medical, honest, and global perspective.

Hair loss is not always alopecia
Hair follows a natural cycle of growth, transition, and shedding. Under normal conditions, we lose between 50 and 100 hairs per day. Concern arises when shedding increases and is accompanied by a visible decrease in density.

Not all types of alopecia are the same. Some allow for hair recovery, while in others the hair follicle is damaged. Therefore, a medical diagnosis is essential to determine the treatment and prognosis.

Cosmetics and medical treatment: they are not the same
Cosmetics can help as a complement, especially in initial or preventive phases. However, in many cases, they are not sufficient on their own.

Hair loss can have hormonal, inflammatory, or systemic origins and may require specific medical treatment. Confusing cosmetics with treatment can delay diagnosis and recovery.

Hair loss as a reflection of the body
Stress, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, or illness can cause hair loss. In many cases, hair acts as an indicator of internal imbalances.

By treating the underlying cause, hair loss can stop naturally. Therefore, in cases of persistent hair loss, a complete medical evaluation, including blood tests and a scalp study, is recommended.

Nutrition and holistic approach
Nutritional evaluation is part of the diagnosis from the beginning. Even people with good nutrition can have deficiencies that affect their hair.

Situations such as prolonged stress, postpartum, or hormonal changes increase nutritional requirements and can intensify hair loss. The most effective approach combines nutrition, healthy habits, specific treatment, and cosmetics as a complement.

Conclusion from Dr. Altisench
Hair loss requires a comprehensive approach.
The foundation is good nutrition and healthy habits, but when the problem is active, it is necessary to combine medical diagnosis, treatment, and cosmetics.

The key is to act in time and avoid universal solutions.
Each case requires a personalized approach.
